The Middle School mission trip this year is once again arranged through YouthWorks. This is an organization located in Minneapolis, MN that helps coordinate great youth events that are centered around serving others in the name of Jesus Christ. Groups from a number of churches are brought together each week to serve, learn, grow, deepen relationships, and worship the King of Kings.

The Senior High Mission Trip is being coordinated this year with a group called TEAMeffort. Not only will this give us a new and different experience, it also gives us the opportunity to concentrate our efforts on helping a community in desperate need of help. You can also learn more about this group by clicking on their name above.
Please keep in mind that dates for these trips may be adjusted by one day on either end as final travel plans are made.
If you’ve never been on a mission trip before, talk to someone who has. These trips are a great experience. You are certain to develop some strong friendships, make a difference in the lives of others, and maybe even willingly step out of your comfort zone at times.
The cost listed below for the trips will cover all expenses during the week while we are at our location. For Middle School students the price also covers the cost of buying meals while we travel. High School students should need no more than $40 cash to cover these expenses. All students may want a small amount of spending money for souvenirs, t-shirts, or snacks – but none will be needed. To help with costs, we will have a few fundraising opportunities available. You are also encouraged to ask friends and family for support both financially and through prayer.
2012 Mission Trip Information
Senior High (Grades 9-12):
Trip Dates: July 21-28
Joplin, Missouri
Joplin Missouri and it’s residents was severely damaged by a tornado this past summer. Our group will be going down to do whatever we can to aid in the rebuilding in the area. Most likely that will involve some hard labor, but it could also involve other services such as serving meals and providing other aid to volunteers, paid professionals, and the local residents who have been most hurt. If you are willing to be flexible and go serve others in whatever way you can this trip is for you. Cost for the trip is $399.
Middle School (Grades 6-8):
Trip Dates: July 8 – 14
Green Bay Wisconsin
While in Green Bay we will be providing support for a number of already existing social service organizations. The ministry focus is to four general groups of people; the homeless, children, the disabled, and the elderly. Work may involve cleanup and painting, helping at a summer camp, serving meals, and visiting the elderly. Individual cost for the trip is $339.
Where have we been?
2011: Bayou La Batre, Alabama AND Rapid City, South Dakota
2010:
The Senior High group went to Raleigh County, WV
Packed into three 15-passenger vans, 44 of us set out to help serve in the Beckley, WV area. Although we missed having the opportunity to work with kids, we were still able to serve families and meet other needs of the community.
A Twins game in Cleveland and a time at the beach on Lake Michigan were highlights during the trip home.
The Middle School group went to Kansas City, MO
This was a great week of serving people in the inner-city of Kansas City. The students really discovered the joy of reaching out and developing relationships with others – whether they were people in need or those working by their side.
2009:
Senior High
We traveled to Lame Deer, Montana which is on the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation. Students split their time between working with a Kids Club program and ministering to families through both work and building relationships. After getting rained out for our final night camping in South Dakota we drove all night arriving home early in the morning on August 1st.
Middle School
This group spent a week in Milwaukee working alongside local ministries that serve the poor, the sick or mentally challenges, or that simply minister the GOOD NEWS of JESUS CHRIST to others. The trip ended with a visit to a water park in Wisconsin Dells and camping at a Wisconsin State Park.
2008:
Senior High
We traveled to Juarez, Mexico, which is right across the border from El Paso, Texas. We left Faribault at about 9:30AM on Saturday, August 2nd for a 26 hour bus ride to El Paso. A quick shower for
everyone, and then we loaded another bus to travel across the border. We worked with YouthWorks finishing up the construction of two new homes and ministering to young children (A little more Spanish for many of us would have helped).
Middle School
The Middle School group had a great trip to Rapid City, SD, which is right near Mt. Rushmore. The drive got a little long for some (especially the drivers), but overall it was a great opportunity to see God at work, and how he can use us to to share his love with others.
2007:
High School Mission Trip
We rode a charter bus to Gulfport, Mississippi and had a hot, fun week serving those still affected by Hurricane Katrina. Even with temperatures above 100 degrees and high humidity, this group kept going strong for the whole week. Of course, while we drove back from our worksites for the day and sometimes “cranked” the music, I was unaware of how many were so exhausted they were sleeping in the back!
Middle School Mission Trip:
We stayed a bit closer to home, and this years trip to Duluth was our first trip in a while where we did not leave Minnesota. Service projects here included working with the elderly, serving in soup kitchens and helping with children’s ministries. A day spent along Lake Superior ended the trip – and the frigid waters were very welcome as we experienced some hot weather up North.
